NT Friendship & Supports social enterprise, EqualiTEA, arrived in Alice Springs mid 2019. This site was to focus on our partnerships and relationships with organisations to create opportunities for people with disability.
With the support of ASTC's Biggi Gosling, Scott Allen and the then Mayor Damien Ryan, the project was approved- and we were off and running!
In November 2019, the project kicked off. With three participants, an extremely dedicated project officer and a heap of new skills, we soon became experts at threading whipper snipper thread, mixing fuel and using tie downs on the trailer.
Even in the midst of a hot Alice Springs summer, our participants and staff worked side by side, learning new skills and ensuring that the parks of Alice Springs were kept pristine.
Fast forward to now, almost a year into the project and we're still keeping up parks pristine. We have more participants supporting the project, and a heap of new skills learned. Some of our participants who originally came on board in a work experience capacity are now working as paid employees!
